ENSEMBLE WEBSITE
A portfolio website for a Norfolk‑based collective of architects, technologists, and creatives.

Ensemble operates as a networked studio, assembling specialist teams from a trusted Norfolk‑wide network to fit each brief. Architects, technologists, and creatives scale up or down to suit the work. Instead of a single office with a fixed headcount, the practice brings the right people into each project at the right moment, delivering with the efficiency of a compact studio and the reach of a larger one.
The website needed to reflect that reality without forcing it into a conventional practice template. We focused on three things: the work, the approach, and the wider initiatives that show the breadth of their thinking. Project pages prioritise generous imagery and short, precise descriptions. The language is plain and modest. The tone mirrors the way Ensemble speaks about their work: looking for character and quiet beauty rather than spectacle.
Beyond architecture, the site also gives space to other outputs. This includes software used to assess the needs of fire stations across the county, courses that open up architecture to school students, and a board game that makes the planning process more engaging and enjoyable. Bringing these strands together helps visitors see that Ensemble is multidisciplinary by design.
The build sits on Squarespace so the team can publish new work and edit copy without specialist support. That choice has proved resilient. The original site launched in 2018 and has been refined over time as the practice and its projects have grown. The structure makes it straightforward to add a case study, publish a note, or update a team profile.
The outcome is a practical tool that fits the way Ensemble works. It shows the portfolio clearly, explains the approach in a few words, and gives prospective clients a simple way to start a conversation—without getting in the way of the work itself.
