The factory at Hethel, Norfolk, is the historic home of Lotus engineering, production and performance. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Lotus hosted a special event bringing staff and superfans together to mark six decades of the brand at Hethel.

MADE BY WOODSMOKE worked with AV company Saturn AV to provide comprehensive video coverage of the day and produce a three-minute highlight film.

The event took place across the Hethel factory estate, with displays in several manufacturing halls, the design studios, Team Classic Lotus and the 389th Bomb Group Museum. More than 40 classic Lotus cars were also on display, with parade laps taking place on the Lotus test track throughout the day.

Two cameras were used to capture the event. A fixed camera covered the three track sessions, with the signal broadcast live to a giant LED screen mounted on the back of a trailer. A smaller, more mobile camera captured the atmosphere of the wider event, including four Q&A sessions, guests exploring the factory, new car reveals, close-ups of the classic cars and details from the exhibits.

The footage was edited into a highlight reel with music and a specially written voiceover. Post-production, including the colour grade and audio mix, was completed in DaVinci Resolve.

The result is a highlight film that captures an important milestone in the Lotus story and preserves the day for future decades.
