STAR GROUP LEADERSHIP HEADSHOTS

A fresh set of commercial portraits for the STAR Asset Finance leadership team.

STAR Asset Finance brings several regional brokerages together under a single group, pairing local knowledge with national backing. The brief was to photograph the senior leadership team in a way that felt consistent with STAR’s identity while remaining distinct from the Credo headshots taken in the same building. The tone needed to be professional and approachable. The images had to read well at small sizes on the web and hold up in print and press use.

The shoot

I kept the technical setup simple and mobile. A compact lighting kit with a single softbox produced soft, flattering light and a clean catchlight. That choice delivered consistency across the session while allowing us to move quickly between locations within the office. For STAR, we leaned into a brighter, airier look by shooting toward windows and balancing exposure to keep backgrounds light without losing separation.

Direction was light touch. Each person had a few minutes in front of the camera with short prompts that focused on posture and expression. The aim was to capture a relaxed confidence rather than a fixed corporate pose. Small adjustments—shoulder angle, hand placement, eye line—kept the set cohesive without feeling rigid.

The choice of lens and camera settings prioritised clarity and separation. A full‑frame body with a fast zoom allowed for shallow depth of field, keeping attention on the subject while softening background details. In post‑production, edits were restrained. Colour balance, contrast, and minor retouching removed distractions and unified the set. Deliverables included web‑optimised and high‑resolution versions for use across the web, LinkedIn, and print.

The result

The result is a suite of headshots that feel like STAR: clear, friendly, and credible. They sit comfortably alongside the group’s brand, give each leader an individual image that feels natural, and present a coherent face to clients, partners, and press.
