The Festival of Architecture in Norwich and Norfolk is a twoโ€‘month programme of talks, walking tours, exhibitions, and handsโ€‘on sessions that brings together practitioners and the public. Hosted by RIBA Norfolk, the event runs every other year. It celebrates the work happening across the county and opens up conversations about the built environment. For FANN2025, Ensemble and MADE BY WOODSMOKE collaborated on a oneโ€‘page website to act as the hub. It provides a single, clear place for listings, details, and booking links, along with practical guidance for practices interested in exhibiting.

The brief asked for usability first. Events shift and expand as partners come on board, so the site needed to accommodate additions without becoming cluttered. We designed a simple structure with anchor navigation, clear headings, and concise descriptions. This meant visitors could scan the site quickly and get to what they needed. The site also carries an exhibitor guide with the essentials. The guide includes deadlines, requirements, and points of contact, so participating practices have reliable information in one place.

Visual direction followed the 2025 theme, โ€œShift,โ€ set by RIBA Norfolk chair Ben Frith. Working closely with Ensemble, we translated the theme into a responsive layout and a set of graphic motifs that read cleanly on mobile and desktop. Colour and type choices were made for accessibility and contrast, supporting the eventโ€™s aim to welcome a broad audience. The team can update the Squarespace site as new events are confirmed. And the CMS allows the team to keep content accurate without additional overhead.

The result

The result is a compact, dependable website that carries a surprising amount of information without feeling heavy. It gives organisers an easy way to manage updates, helps practitioners understand how to take part, and gives the public a straightforward route to discover and book. Most importantly, it reflects the spirit of the programme: professional, open, and firmly rooted in Norwich and Norfolk.
