THE LION & CASTLE BAR

Inside The Lion & Castle Bar: Universal Carpentry’s considered fit‑out for Norwich City Football Club.

The Lion and Castle Bar is a new hospitality space at Norwich City Football Club.

The venue provides a high‑end environment for supporters to meet, talk football, and settle in for a match. Universal Carpentry delivered the interior fit‑out to an exceptional standard, with Simon and his team’s meticulous detailing and quality of finish rewarding close inspection.

The brief to MADE BY WOODSMOKE was straightforward. Capture the craft in a way that would stand up in future bids and feel true to the atmosphere the club wanted to offer.

The space presents practical challenges for filming. Limited natural light and a dark palette can make the room look flat on camera. I supplemented existing light with additional fixtures to shape the scene and separate subjects from the background. Shooting on a high-end RED Dragon X camera helped to preserve detail in the shadows. Meanwhile, the gentle pacing of the edit let the materials and finish take centre stage.

The video showcases the scheme’s playful side. A pour‑your‑own‑pint area invites interaction, and a mural celebrates the club’s history. Together they set off the detail shots and show prospective clients, at a glance, how the space works in use.

Post‑production was completed in DaVinci Resolve. Colour work aimed for a cinematic finish without drifting away from reality. I licensed music from Epidemic Sound to set the tone and added clean, minimal titles to highlight features without cluttering the frame.

The result is a short, focused video that presents Universal Carpentry’s work clearly and credibly. It supports new business conversations and serves as a faithful record of a project delivered with care.
